Sullivans Island SC Real Estate

Sullivan's Island is located just north of the entrance to Charleston Harbor, with the Atlantic Ocean on the Islands eastern side and just south of the Isle of Palms. Sullivans Island is a quick twenty minutes from Charleston proper. From a historical perspective, Sullivans Island is also the site of a major battle of the American Revolution at Fort Sullivan, now Ft. Moultrie in June of 1776. Fort Moultrie, built here during the Revolution to protect Charleston harbor from the British, was one of the sites from which Confederate troops shelled Fort Sumter in 1861. Sullivans Island real estate began to take shape in the early 1800’s as Charlestonians started building summer cottages on the island. Today the Islands real estate market is dominated by permanent Island residents. However there is a significant level of beach front real estate and ocean related real estate vacation rental activity. This activity opens the door to investment oriented real estate opportunities as well as those looking for a more permanent real estate situation.

Wadmalaw Island Real Estate

Wadmalaw Island is one of the Lowcountry’s most beautiful, bucolic and unspoiled spots in the greater Charleston area. Wadmalaw is rural in general with roads that meander through real estate marked by woodlands, farms and creeks with vegetable stands here and there. Farming and shrimping are the primary occupations of most of the locals. From a real estate perspective, there are no planned unit developments and building codes are strict.
